Lore: she was an explorer until a nearly fatal incident crushed her arms and half her face. She just barely made it to the hospital. There was an experiment going on at the lab nearby that involved replacing parts of humans with robot parts to fix injuries that couldn’t be healed otherwise. After this Tess wandered even farther, taking farther journeys, even bounty hunting for some quick cash. Once, when she was on a quest to hunt down some criminal with a big price on his head, and to try to find safer lands, as most of the world was a dystopian apocalypse covered in lava, an accident with a rockfall crushed her legs. She was too far from any city or town to get help so she just wrapped some bandages around her legs and hoped for the best. Shes lived with her broken legs for years, mostly walking on her arms.
