Thanks for reading! Chapter 5: Bateye slowly walked through the bushes so he didn't scare any prey. But something didn't feel right, something felt different, but he couldn't figure out what. Just then he saw a small rabbit hoped into clearing right in front of him, he pounced catching the rabbit quickly. He then headed back to the pond to meet up with his friends. {} "What did you catch?", a familiar female voice asked from the reeds near the pond, a tall, dark gray she-cat with two orange leaves behind her left ear emerged from the reeds, "Oh, hi Shadowleaf! I caught a rabbit", Bateye said noticing that Deertalon wasn't with her, "Where's Deertalon?", he asked looking around, "Right here", a medium sized brown tom with cream spots on his back said, also coming out of the reeds, he had two fish with him, "Now all we have to do is wait for Swanfeather", Deertalon said as he set the fish down. Swanfeather emerged from the woods a few minutes later, her white fluffy fur a little dirty, "I didn't have any luck. What about you guys?", she asked, "I caught a rabbit and Deertalon and Shadowleaf caught some fish", Bateye said pointing to the fish and rabbit in front of them. "Nice, now we should head back and put these on the fresh kill pile", Swanfeather said taking the rabbit from Bateye to carry. On there way back Deertalon asked, "Hey um Shadowleaf, could I talk to you for a second in private?", "Oh um sure", she said and stopped walking to stay back and talk to Deertalon, "Huh, wonder what that's all about", Swanfeather said as she and Bateye kept walking. When the got back to camp Swanfeather and Bateye set the prey on the pile and headed for the warrior den they were there greeted by Pineshadow, "Hi guys", he said his dark brown fur glinting in the moonlight, "Hi, Pineshadow", Swanfeather and Bateye said as they entered the den. A few hours later Shadowleaf and Deertalon came back to the den giggling and laughing, when Shadowleaf went to go lay down next to Swanfeather, and Deertalon next to Bateye, Bateye asked, "What was that all about?", there was a moment of silence before Deertalon whispered, "I asked Shadowleaf to be my mate", Bateye didn't know how to respond, "What did she say?", he finally asked, "She said yes!", Deertalon whisper shouted, he was super excited, "Good for you!", Bateye said and nudged Deertalon with his paw. The night Bateye fell asleep looking across the den and Swanfeather who was sleeping peacefully.
