For thousands of years, Mothra made Infant Island her resting place, where she protected the local villagers and healed them with her life-force scales in return for the people to protect her egg. Due to the mystical nature of her scales, over several generations, the people of Infant Island slowly grew a telepathic connection with Mothra. However, during the atomic age, a terrible fate befell the island. Nuclear tests on nearby islands devastated the local ecosystems, putting the natives on the brink of destruction. Mothra did all in her power to protect their home, but over time, her strength began to waver, leaving the once unstoppable guardian of light in a weakened state. In 1992, Mothra clashed with both Godzilla and Manda who emerged from the ocean onto the shores of Infant Island, locked in a fierce battle, neither willing to yield. Without a second thought, the goddess used all her remaining life-force to repel the two warring beasts at the cost of her own life. Now, a new Mothra must take on the mantle for when the inevitable event of a new threat emerging is here, she will arise to defend us.
