use the arrow keys to move and click on buildings to enter them. Click on items around the map to pick them up (they will spawn back and will be in your inventory before you pick them up, please ignore it). you will soon be able to click on characters to talk to them. have fun and thank you for playing my game :) Update 1: you can talk to them now!
