press space and the dude starts spinning (took me too long to figure out how to make him do that) alright, this is going to have spoilers, so don't say i didn't warn you. The general consensus is that Lio is in a dream. All available evidence points towards this, for example: The rat saying "It's about time for you to wake up, isn't it?", his description at the end saying "time to wake up", the birds' song saying to "wake up from your dreaming, break this illusion, and go back to the place you must stay". All of this implies that Lio is just a lil dreaming cat. "But what is he dreaming of, and how did he get to be dreaming?" you ask? Well, I'm here to tell you my ideas. It could be that Luna has some mystical magical dream powers and put Lio under a spell, but that doesn't seem likely. I'm going to guess that the dream has animals and places from Lio's childhood, and whenever characters say "wake up" it's probably Lio's conscience trying to wake him up to go to a warmer place, since in ending two, we see Lio out in the cold. Thimble could have been friends with Lio, and Luna could have turned him into a patchwork cat because... idk. maybe it's the same reason cats decide to knock stuff off counters? because she wanted to? idk. But, since Luna did it, and Lio and her are friends, maybe Thimble hates Lio because he didn't do anything to stop Luna from blinding him. Anyways, I feel like this is more logical rather than saying Luna is a god-witch that can turn a cat blind and make another cat into a fake dream world. But then arises the question, "Why did the rat say 'She can't go on like this forever. That's why your here, eeee'?" The rat is probably another part of Lio's conscience, talking about how Luna can't keep acting like being a hobo is perfectly fine, and Lio really just wants a home. Another reason why I think the dream is Lio's childhood, is because of the broken bell. I don't know if I'm schizophrenic, but the broken bell looked pretty old, and the fact that Old Lio doesn't have a bell could mean that the bell was lost around the time of Lio's dream. But hey, that's just a theory. A Scoundral Theory :D Thanks for making it this far, and thank you patchy for making a beautiful, wonderful game that gives me an excuse to be on scratch when I should be making a google doc about classifying Omnivores, Carnivores, and Herbivores- which I should go probably do. Check out A Place To Stay if you haven't.
huge shoutout to @patchy_bug for being the greatest to ever do it and making A Place To Stay. Go play it if you haven't. Go on. I'm waiting. Lio is a cutie pie.
