So basically in engineering, they use this notation to write big numbers without any problems (saying bigger numbers is a huge problem as you have to explicitly say "hundred" or like a "billion"). Usually the 'e' stands for ×10 and the '+ number' means that 10 in the '×10' is being raised to the power of the number. For example 1.2763 × 10^4 where 4 is the '+no.' and the answer is 12763 which is the same number as 1.2763 but WITHOUT the decimal point. Also this notation and the other scientific notation are different but they are used for the same purpose. For example, the Avagadro's number can be written as (6.023 × 10^23) OR (6.023e+23)
