Im a little tired of 3D so heres a 16-bit 2D project for those who love mario DIRECTIONS: WASD or arrow keys to move, jump, and duck W or up arrow to go up a pipe S or down arrow to go down a pipe Space to interact or move through textboxes P to self-destruct in case you get stuck in the ground R to skip the opening cutscene STORY: Mario suddenly hears cannon shots echoing from Peach's castle, and quickly runs over there to investigate. As soon as he arrived, however, Kamek catches him in a spell and teleports him to an unknown land far away.... GAMEPLAY STORY: (slight spoilers) Mario awakes in a strange desert. After wandering for a while, he finds a small town called Bone-Dry Bazaar. There he finds the old leader of the town, and explains the situation in the Mushroom Kingdom. The old toad agrees to send reinforcements from the Bazaar, as long as Mario restores Sarasaland to normal to resume trade. To do this, Mario takes a short-cut through the Sarasaland Tunnels and hurries to the Chai Kingdom, where Princess Daisy of Sarasaland has been captured once again....
This is by far the largest game I've worked on, and it was a good learning experience, if nothing else. The point of the game is not the level design, but rather the story and atmosphere, which I think is an important part of some of the best Mario games such as Galaxy. This Mario game has a vaguely 16-bit aesthetic, which I only went with because the Mario sprites I used were 16-bit
