I was torn between a couple of different ideas all based on the same video game: Clair Obscur. Finally, I decided on this one: Sophie's story. I decided to focus on Sophie's story because it was just so interesting to me, and we learn so much about her character in just a few minutes. I had a lot of fun writing this piece, and I hope you'll enjoy reading it as well. If you have NOT yet heard any of my rambles about how absolutely incredible this game is, good for you! But also...I'm honestly kind of shocked. Because I talk about it a lot. Over the weekend, I got to Major Plot Point #2, so if you've played it fully, you'll probably know what I'm talking about (you know, when you get ALL of the cutscenes and whatever), and I just have to say that this game has devastated me in every possible way. I guess I'm kind of just posting this as a project to get some closure and hopefully to find some other fans, haha- This piece does not have any spoilers for the game outside of the prologue (maybe the first half an hour of gameplay?). I wrote it before I got super far into the game as well, so there are may be some inaccuracies, but I hope you'll allow me a bit of creative freedom for this. For the people who have played Clair Obscur in its entirety, please, please do not spoil anything in the comments. It's an absolutely magnificent creation, and I would hate to see the magic of it spoiled for anyone. I myself am, at the time of writing, still not quite done with the game—though I'm getting close—and I'm doing everything in my power not to accidentally figure out the ending before I've actually played it. A note: Some of the pieces of dialogue and scenes are taken directly from the cutscenes, while others have been adapted slightly or are just my interpretation of Sophie and Gustave and their relationship. I've tried to keep it accurate and within the reality of their personalities, but I might have gotten some things wrong. ~ Word count: 2,000 words ~ Credits: • Everyone involved in the making of Clair Obscur • My dad for making me play the game • My sister, dad, and friends for enduring my rambling about the game • Kiara () for critiquing this entry
