(This is an informational piece of writing, however, not all details have been confirmed so far, if anything is incorrect, please tell me !) On Tuesday, September ninth, 2025, Doha, Qatar was struck by Israeli missiles. The missiles were targeted at Palestinian negotiators who had arrived in Qatar recently in attempts to broker a ceasefire. (Qatar is one of the leading mediators between Israel and the United States and Hamas) Summarization of events • At about 3 pm Qatar time, multiple explosions could be heard in Doha, near or in West Bay Lagoon. (The state of Qatar being incredibly small, its likely that nearly everyone heard them. I was about twenty miles from the strikes and heard them clear as day.) • About an hour later, Israel confirmed to have fired missiles targeting the Hamas leaders in Qatar. Shortly after, Qatari forces analysed and condemned the act as a violation of international law. • There have been confirmed to be six deaths, including the son of senior leader al-Hayya and a member of Qatari military. What this means for Qatar • the majority of Qatari citizens and residents have spoken out, voicing that they will not tolerate Israel’s “recklessness”, for lack of a better word. As a resident of Qatar, I am sickened, and many people i know feel the same. • This was the first time that Israel attacked Qatar directly, as Qatar has been a reliable mediator for the Israel-Palestine conflict for the past two years. • There is a possibility of trump being involved, apparently The Amir HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani received a call from Donald Trump in which the American president spoke about how the United States was an ally of Qatar, and, according to the White House, notified The Amir HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani of the upcoming strikes. This would imply that Trump was aware of what Israel was doing, however, he explicitly stated that the air strikes “did not advance Israel or America’s goals.” Conclusion This was a terrible event that should not have happened. In my personal experience, I have to assume that this will drastically change the relationship between Qatar and Israel, potentially the USA. My hope is that this is resolved in a non harmful way and that the ceasefire discussion is resumed and comes to a solution as soon as possible. Rest in peace to those who were lost.
