Living cells (black squares) will die if they have 1 or 0 living neighbours (cells orthogonally and diagonally from the cell, there are eight) due to underpopulation 2. Living cells will die if they have 4 or more neighbours due to overpopulation 3. Living cells with 2 or 3 neighbours will continue living due to survival 4. Vacant cells (white cells) with exactly 3 neighbours will become alive due to reproduction Each generation these four rules are applied, a generation being one tick, so to say To use this specific simulator: 1. Start by scrolling with arrow keys and use the mouse to place some living cells. Zoom with W and S. 2. Press enter to start 3. While the simulator is running, press P to pause and P to unpause 4. While paused, press enter to advance one generation
