Why, oh why had she not said something sooner. She stood on the hill by the church by the grave she visited all too much lately. Her shoulders sagged. Her face soaked with tears The clouds which had recently covered the moon added their tears to the mix. The cold October rain gave her goosebumps, She neither minded, nor cared. Not anymore. As the mist filled the air her memory’s filled her brain. His smile. His damp hair. His kind eyes. Why, oh why had she not said something sooner! The rain poured only harder. Slowly, she headed for her house. A long walk she could no longer share with her love. The autumn leaves swirled in the wind. The rain had soaked her through. But that was okay, she couldn’t feel anything anymore. She was dimly aware of the walk home. Before she knew it she was walking up her driveway. Her pumpkins were tipped over again. That just made it worse. Her eyes were turned to his house. Just across the street. The unfinished pile of damp leaves blowing away. Just like when they first locked eyes. Quickly she ran inside before it got any worse. Soaked through she flopped on the couch. Crying what ever was left of her sole out. Why, oh why, had she not said something sooner.
