A_16 or CAT777 is a wiper malware that can appear randomly on your wallpaper screen and proceed to hijack your device. The malware will appear randomly after a victim closes an application and returns to the Home screen, or when the victim first opens their device. Text reads: ‘YOUR FILES ARE ENCRYPTED BY CAT 777’. Reported functionings: The virus will end up downloading itself into the devices files and wipe out everything except for the image, including most of the hard drive. All apps will be deleted, leaving the users device devoid of even the camera app. All passwords, pins, settings will be lost and the phone will be rendered useless, only being able to just turn on and off, and charge. It also spreads to other devices using the same network affected by it, and devices that use the same emails or other related info of the victim. Victims report their Wi-Fi routers turning off for nearly a month after encountering it. It has also been speculated that it leaks phone numbers and emails due to victims being harassed by unknown individuals who keep sending graphic videos to them. It is also reported that Cat777’ appearance is very randomized, always appearing as a separate ‘cat’ than before.
Note: CAT777 is highly likely to be based off of Cat777, a parody version of Dog666. Note_2: There is no reported reasons how and what causes CAT777 to inject itself into a phone. Risk: Danger + Unavoidable Status: Unknown Type: Multi Click to see its file imported into a A.A. staff members phone wallpaper. Image source is unknown.
