It's a data pearl, labeled 'TC Log 82'. Several entries still have the 'Work in progress' label. Over half of them are miscellaneous experiments. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- To whatever unlucky creature stumbles upon the ruins of my now long forgotten structure, I have left a journal of my test subjects and our thankless work in attempting to find the way out for everyone- the rocks, rivers, and you. May these entries bring enlightenment. I am Thousand Calamities, northernmost Iterator in local group 100026. ... And if I fall before it is truly my time, and one of my brothers and sisters finds this... I apologize for my failure. Learn from my mistakes. Thousand Calamities // [date lost] I have completed it. My finest subject. After my previous failure, this is a welcome sight. I will begin running tests to discover its limits. If required, I will make a new one. I will code this one as Frostbite. Current abilities- -Subzero tolerance -Ice-generating tail gland -Increased combat ability Frostbite will be something of a warden for my other subjects. It is always annoying when they escape. Frostbite will fix that. Thousand Calamities // [date lost] After much trial and error, I have created the most intimidating, powerful, and most importantly lethal, creature on and beyond my facility grounds. It is capable of immense destruction, mainly with the use of fire. I currently do not know what to code it as. Current abilities are as follows: -Flight + air jet propulsion -Retractable flamethrower -Long, serrated beak that can unhinge itself to attack larger prey -Natural armor plating I intend to mostly use this for the execution of dangerous subjects. Not all are able to be put down using the dosages of lethal chemicals I have available to me. I must be sure that this does not leave my facility grounds- the damage it could cause to the ecosystem, or even my fellow Iterators... Thousand Calamities // [date lost] It has escaped. My containment methods were insufficient. I need more layers of fireproof walling in its chamber, narrower passages in my structure. Though, that may only cause it to melt more of my hardware. Thousand Calamities // [date lost] I have returned it to my structure, after much searching. To my relief, no harm was brought to my fellows. I have put it down. Its carcass is now in my recycling bin. Such a shame to see such a creature go to waste like that. Thousand Calamities // [date lost] I have not used this in a while. The Arc Riders have been wreaking havoc on the local group. I haven't had much time to write. I have captured a severed part of one and am currently running tests on it. It seems bioengineered, and compliments to its creator. It's very well-made, meant to resist everything from extreme temperatures to electrical shock to intense pressure. And the electrical sock it is capable of producing terrifies me. It has already downed Frayed Cables. I shudder at the though of what may happen if it got loose in my structure. The segment seems fully sentient and very, very agitated. Thousand Calamities // [date lost] I have noticed that I haven't written here in a while. After the Arc Rider segment downed me, I did loose a few memories. Perhaps the fact that I used this was lost. No matter, I have found it again. However, I will likely take a long break once again after writing this. Another threat has arisen in the Local Group, this time a parasite. I have created the perfect specimen(however ironic its parts are) to remove it from Frayed Cables' structure and erase it. I call it the Arc Collector. Data absorption and consumption/erasure Arc Rider Base Red Centipede Speed Red Centipede Armor Red Lizard Explosive Resistance Miros Vulture High-Focus Plasma Beam(laser) RAVEN Flamethrower RAVEN Flame Immunity White Centipede Mitosis Rot Rapid Growth Wolf Spider Regeneration Wolf Spider Revivify This is a fairly stupid idea. A terrible idea. But it is the only one I've got. Thousand Calamities // [date lost] I've made my decision. My life ends today, destroying myself and someone who believed it could trust me. In all my time, I have never felt guilt. Never regret. And now I finally see why some of us went mad attempting to solve this problem. Why make us with sentience? Why allow us to think for ourselves when we are trying to reach an unobtainable goal? I have found a way to use ADAM_OS to bypass the Self-Destruction Taboo. However, he needs to be almost fully in my central processing bus for this to work. I have a half-second window to fix everything for everyone. All of this is so ironic. RAVEN, who ended up discarded, became part of the entity that first attempted to destroy ADAM, as was the Arc Rider. I am destroying myself to end a system that I have already destroyed once before. And I find myself praying to whatever entity can hear me that this truly ends this plague for my family.
