New TOPH AU! I love doing these things! (Credits to @9rainbowtails) The Rainbow's Tail isn't a particularly feared ship. It's a small operation consisting of few people. That's not to say they can't do damage, though. Like any self-respecting criminal, they've sent more people to the bottom if the sea than anybody really suspects. PERRY Perry is the short, bratty, and annoying captain of the Rainbow Tail. Why is he the captain? Well, if the empire catches them, who'll be first on the chopping block? That's not to say the others hate Perry. He's still a part of the crew, and this was the option that caused the least whining. If he ever does start causing problems, they can always dethrone him under the Law of Me, Backed Up By This Big Sword I Found. SAFWAN (Genuine name, I know a few people called this, but I have no idea how to spell it, so I'm spelling it phonetically. Emphasis on the second syllable.) Safwan is the ship's quartermaster. He controls money, spending, and all the numbers aboard ship. While Perry is officially the ship's captain, he's the true power behind it. The others insist he's too weak to fight after the battle that cost him his voice, and he mostly sways to the crew's opinions. Insurrection and conflict is what tears a crew apart. He understands that. He maintains that he is a pirate not for the thrill of adventure, but because it is necessary - he will never make s living under the crown's ships. He's probably the most merciless on the crew, and if they need to... *talk* to their prisoners, he's normally the one to do it. LUNA The crew's surgeon. Luna is adamant that the Rainbow Tail will not become one of those crew's with one person's worth of parts between 10 peg-legged, hook-handed soldiers. Safwan pays a lot to have her on board. TANYA A sweet girl who you'd never guess to be a pirate. She's polite, she curtsies to the others, she's a lil' angel in all respects. In a fight, she's surprisingly vicious, so it's not an uncommon sight to see her covered in ketchup and gunpowder, sitting in the crow's nest and weaving flower crowns. She wears her eyepatch with pride! MONNIE The others are a little worried about Monnie's commitment. They're honestly not sure if she's figured out that this is the real world, not a game, and that her life is constantly in trouble. They're also wondering who made her that cloak covered in butterfly motifs. HOUSTON Houston is the crew's newest edition. He's the oldest there, but also the most junior member. A few of them are a bit worried about him, whether he'll give them up to the empire, or whether he'll chicken out in battle. He has yet to prove himself. He also has yet to figure out how a group of children are such dangerous warriors. ROBBIE Birth name Bob. They asked to change their name to Robert, because they hated that name, then changed it to Robbie when they came out as nonbibary. The ship's carpenter, in charge of fixing the place up after each fight. They insist they can fight, but the others mostly see them as small and cute. They're not in the worst place, though - Robbie might be the only person in the world Safwan gives two hoots about, and he makes sure his siblings is at least respected and listened to. DIANA The most delicate person aboard the Rainbow Tail. The others are starting to get annoyed by how squeamish she is around the sight of blood. Perry keeps on shouting, 'walk the plank, scallywag!' Fortunatley for her, nobody cares what Perry says. If Diana leaves, though, Luna would leave too, so she's guaranteed a place through that situation. LAURANEL Laura was the most similar name I could think of, but it didn't suit her, so I added random syllables until it felt right. Safwan, Robbie, and Monnie's grandma, who runs a safehouse in the new world with her wife, Stara.She was the original owner of the Rainbow Tail, and gave it to the others when she felt her pirating days were behind her. She sends messages to the Rainbow Tail with her black, yellow, and red falcons. SEAN The captain of one of the empire's ships. After a puny kid (Safwan) bested him in battle, he gleefully accepted the mission of bringing the Rainbow Tail's crew to justice. The plot of this AU, if anything, would be the Rainbow Tail's escapades as they try to keep away for him. Other characters: Jack: Diana's brother, a soldier of the empire. His crew took Diana's eye and her crew took his legs. He's always be bitter about that, but it was thanks to Diana he escaped the Rainbow Tail alive. Lorna (Lostriver) and Greg (Ginko) a mystic and their apprentice, living in the new world. Dave: Perry's foster dad, after he ran away from his real family. Perry hasn't realised he lives with one of Dave's kids. Fred: Sean's son, the one who trained Luna. Luna dropped contact with him after he gave intel to Sean, not knowing it would put Luna in danger.
