tw : trauma, death, violence, etc. 1 - thoughts on eleven from stranger things so this is basically my journal of thoughts on random things. today is eleven from stranger things. i hope you enjoy my writing :3 eleven is an extremely complex character, like many from stranger things or made by the duffers. many, many people know her as the girl with powers and a shaved head. i know her as a girl with insecurities and a girl trying to figure herself out. i'll be exploring how she knows mike doesn't love her, how smart she is, and how others act around her affects what she does. 1 - she just isn't a bald head and telekinesis. " and she is her own person, " - nancy wheeler, season 3 el is a girl who doesn't want to have a shaved head, be called a lab experiment, or be the one with powers. she has a personality and it can be defined as positive, creative, smart, a quick learner, brave, and a sweet person. she learned how to speak in the span or 4 or 5 years, she saved the world 3 times, and she is a great artist. we also know she can laugh at any time when she's with people she loves. all this is because of her friends. max laughs with her, hopper teaches her how to speak, will taught her art, and kali (i hate her btw) helped her with her powers. she was also taught a swear word not appropriate for scratch by dottie in season 2. it is mentioned throughout the show. another thing she picked up that is mentioned and referenced by the kids throughout the show is " friends don't lie " she seems to value this rule a lot, and it shows that her only family is her friends, but i'll be looking into that later. my point basically is, she learns from other people. no one talks about her actual personality. " eleven is so cool !! " " i love eleven !! " if you asked anyone to name something about eleven, chances are, they'll say something about her hair, her powers, or a bloody nose. never about her sweet personality. that's not eleven. 2 - she's so strong and a quick learner "she's our friend and she's crazy !! " - dustin henderson, season 2 you see so many times in season one that she gets tired after using her powers, but we learn how she loses them around 2 or 3 years before that, showing how quick she is at learning. it took her around 6 or 7 (don't say it </3) years in total to master it, just to have it taken away, but then she gets her gift back then has to save the world again. tell me that's not impressive, i dare you. she also learned english in like 5 years, sure, it's not great but tell me why she speaks better than half the kids in my grade. QUICK LEARNERrRR you see how she dedicates lots of her time to learning english ?? reading the language learning books, studying in school in season 4, D E D I C A T I O N i admire this kid so much because i swear i could never </3 3 - she's so kind and brave " you help me, now i help you. " - eleven , season 4 eleven has helped so many people, she was kind to mike for the longest time when he never said " i love you " to her (not slander btw) and kept a smile on her face, tried to be nice to the people harassing her, and said sorry to lucas. she's thoughtful and kind, and also incredibly brave. going up against a monster, a bigger monster, and fighting her old friend. she is one of the bravest in the party in my opinion. no one talks about that. 3 - overlooked trauma " just do not blame her, she's upset enough as is, " - hopper, season 2 literally no one talks about her trauma. being in a lab her whole life, her childhood was stolen. she then fought a whole monster, overworking herself, then leaving the first people that ever properly cared for her and treated her like a human being. even though i love lucas, and he had a valid reason to not like her, she was still called a freak, and was yelled at by him. she also yelled at by mikey, which is another reason why he doesn't love her and is zesty, but we'll get to that some other day. anyways, she was still mistreated. in season 2, she didn't quite know how to act, and yes, was kind of being a brat. she still learned her lesson, and kali literally made her see one of her biggest fears. that is so traumatizing, and one of the reasons why i hate kali. she was also forced to kill someone, uhhhh- then in season 3, she was figuring herself out even more, then got a severe injury after people ignored her, just for her father to " die " and moving away. that would be so sad if that happened to me. season 4, several people seemed like they were using her, not to mention, her father is still " dead " and her boyfriend is gay, she feels like a monster, and is basically reliving her trauma. on top of that, she got the one thing taken away from her that made her feel normal. her hair. then she got her powers back. i just can't explain how much her powers make her feel useful.
anyways, that was me yapping about how eleven is sigma, i have so many other things i'd like to say, but i reached the desc character limit </3 i wrote this while listening to the stranger things soundtrack which helped me get into " the zone " i love this character so much you don't even know.
