Nate: "Hey soup dentist, I'm playing some solitarot let me finish real quick." Claire: "Alright. Also I told you to stop calling me soup dentist, I don't like soup and neither do you?" Nate: "Yeah but I can't think of any pet names." "Maybe these cards will have an answer?" "My Queen of Swords?" Claire: "I suppose it's an improvement. But I'd prefer you don't just name me a card." Lana: "Hey so, how's about we play a game I used to play with a tarot deck before I hit the hay." Marlene: "OH! I REMEMBER THAT! We would draw a card and try and make it into a story." Lana: "Yeah and whoever wasn't able to continue lost." Marlene: "Should we play a round real quick?" Lana: "Hey can we use your tarot for a game?" Nate: "How about I play with you." Marlene: "Alright the more the wedding!" Lana: "I think it goes the more the merrier..." Marlene: "Well I can't be sure if I'm ready to make that kind of commitment her..." Nate: "Hey Clairence Aisle. Wanna join?" Claire: "I don't know..." Lana: "Come on this is gonna be a key character moment!" Claire: "You know that life isn't some story right?" Lana: "Well we can never be sure!" Claire: "I suppose I'll join." Lana draws the first card. Lana: "The upside down fool. She doesn't know what she's gonna do in life. 'Why choose just one thing?' she asks herself, 'There's so much to choose!'" Nate: "The three of wands, well a reversed one. The fool doesn't have a plan with her life, she needs to go on a quest of some kind." Marlene: "The magician! She finds someone who has a goal that she can't achieve. The Magician asks the Fool for help." Claire: "Seven of cups. The Magician is struggling because, uhhh, her goal isn't being met and she's not a good Magician." Lana: "The ace of pentacles. The Fool goes on a quest with the Magician to help her achieve her desires." "Since pentacles are associated with earth why don't we say it's a forest?" Nate: "The chariot. The chariot guides the Fool and Magician through the forest." Marlene: "The star. In the forest they see a church, glistening with twinkling constellations from the heavens above." Claire: "Four of cups. The Chariot thinks that the church is dumb. Everyone has magic now, it's no longer special." Lana: "Three of pentacles. The Fool the Chariot and the Magician all work together to push forward and uncover the church's mysteries." Nate: "Six of cups. The team reminisces over memories they made many years ago." Marlene: "Justice. The girls find a scale which weighs their souls." Claire: "The Moon, it shines upon the Fool and tells her to fix her life." Lana: "The knight of cups. The Knight falls in love with one of the girls." Nate: "Death reversed, the adventure nears it's end yet the Fool still holds on." "Also I think the Knight could be the Magician." "Limiting each character to one card is a bit boring." Lana: "Ok." Marlene: "The Lovers..." "The Magician and the..." *She looks around, cheeks a rosy red.* "The Magician and the Fool share mutual feelings?" Claire: "Can we speed this up?" "These two love birds are gonna be too busy gawking at each other to continue the story." Nate: "Alright how about you skip your turn. You can play again later, these seem like they can take a while." Lana: "The... hey Nate?" Nate: "Yeah?" Lana: "I don't recognize this one? What is the Feather?" Nate: "I don't know? There isn't a tarot card called the Feather, let me see." *You hand him the card* Nate: "I don't remember having something like this in my deck." Lana: "I guess we're at a halt now." Nate: "I guess so." Marlene: "What if the Feather is the Fool? I don't think that I, err, the Magician would like her love to be called a fool." Nate: "Yes but who would the Fool be?" Marlene: "She could be someone who makes a fool out of everyone else." Lana: "That's... a very interesting take." Marlene: "Thanks..." "..." "..." "I think the things you added to the story were very interesting..." Lana: "Thank you so much!" "I was considering being an author once." Marlene: "Really!? You always complained about how writing was so strict." Lana: "Yeah but that was back when we were in school. I wouldn't be writing essays, I'd be writing books!" Marlene: "Well I think you could be a great author!" Lana: "And I think you're already a great magician!" Marlene: "Nah... I'm not... the Magician..." *Lana looks down.* Lana: "Oh... I suppose I'll just head to bed now, the game's over so." *Nathan slams a card down on the table." Nate: "The ace of cups. The Feather tells the Magician she loves her." Marlene: "W-What do you mean?" *Nathan sighs* Nate: "I mean Lana tells you that she loves you, or vice versa. I don't care who does it first but it is glaringly obvious." Marlene: "Uhh... Lana...?" Lana: "Yes... I feel the same way!" Marlene: "You didn't even let me ask." Lana: "I'm sorry... but you love me too right?" Marlene: "Of course!"
Uhh that excerpt ends here. I originally wasn't gonna include as much and only the tarot scene but I started running out of ideas on how to make it work but I didn't want it to end as a cliffhanger. The tarot stuff matters, the Marlana stuff is much less important to the story but it is still quite important I'd say. This story isn't a romance though, the excerpt takes place in the beginning of the middle of the story. This song is gonna be reflective of everything Eye of the Needle is, about Lana's entire journey, about MY entire journey. I know that nobody else will call my story perfect, because it isn't, but it is *to me*
