World Leader - Title(president, minister, etc.): Emperor Brief Description: The Empire was founded during the 8th Israeli Arab war, in which the Christian population of both sides rose up and took the middle eastern lands and claimed it for Christianity. Following a brief election on the constitution, Catholicism became the state religion, and a elected dynasty system determined the leader. It maintains a strong military focused on defense and to quell civil unrest fast if needed.
Religion: Christianity as a whole is mandated, Catholicism is the state religion. Elected Dynasty System: The constitution lays out the process for an elected dynasty system: Once the Emperor dies or resigns, the dynasty to rule is voted on by the people, with multiple dynasties running their heir in the election. If there is no heir, the Parliament elevates one of their own. The Parliament votes on laws drafted by the emperor, but must override any decision by the emperor with a 75% vote. The parliament may vote to exile the emperor with a 90% vote. The parliament controls and appoints the judiciary, and may impeach the prime minister with a majority vote, while the emperor is free to exile any member of parliament once a month, and appoints the prime minister. The judiciary interprets laws and the constitution, and may declare the emperor’s decrees unconstitutional if they have a 2/3 vote of all national judges. They are all kept in check by the council of bishops, who may veto any law or opinion from the 3 branches, and may excommunicate anyone at will. They may refuse to crown the emperor if the bishops decide. The only way their power is limited is if a national referendum and a 95% parliament vote vetoes one of the Bishops opinion. Parties: Party of the Crown: Pro Monarchy, and anti election system Christian Bloc: Seeks to abolish or limit the branches of government that aren’t the bishops, and seeks to expand the bishops power People’s Renewal Front: Seeks to expand the legislative branch and to abolish or limit the emperors control. Order of the Faithful: Seeks to enforce Catholicism nationwide and make daily mass mandated. Centrist Christian Coalition: Middle ground of those who seek to keep things the way it is, mostly a dozen or so swing voters.
