Search through the maze of a gold mine, picking up treasure and seeing how deep you can go (level 15 starts gets really interesting) Arrow keys to move, [Space] to take action (chest, stairs) Use the number keys (and A through F) to answer math questions, then hit [Space] to submit your answer. Keep answering until you run out of time and earn more gold! Use the settings button at the start to change the types of questions found at the treasure chests.
I started out playing with some different ideas about maze generators, save/load ideas, custom input, and ways of organizing my scratch scripts. In the end it all came together into GoldMine. I had plans for monsters, fights, spending gold to buy items like armor and swords...but I thought there was enough interesting stuff here to publish early. Feel free to remix, and please call out @torquito in your Credits if you learn anything here! See the [Input] sprite for simple input management so it happens all in one place. [MapCreator] is in charge of drawing the map at the right size, generating a new world each time you play, and figuring out where the chests and stairs are placed. [Stairs] has the logic to save a map so you can go up and down stairs and anything you've seen stays the same. [MathQuestions] has all the math questions (duh?) and knows how to draw the questions and your answers. Some day I'd love for a gold-exchange where kids can change their gold in for videogame (minecraft) minutes or treats or something else fun. That's how we use this in our house -- well, that and just for learning more Scratch! Images are from free online image sites.
