It was a beautiful night outside the almost ancient mansion, the place Raphael found herself lucky to be invited to. The next morning, Raphael would die. She'd been cursed exactly a year ago by an old enemy, a foe who'd wanted to make Raphael's end as slow and painful as possible, to die 1 year later. That moment had approached so, so much faster than She'd anticipated, and She'd found much more than she wanted to before the end. Things she wanted to stay for. Raphael sighed, scratching at the fungi growing all over her body, completely covering certain parts that were hidden as best as she could hide them. She'd continue, preparing for the final dance of her life. One she was hoping to spend with a certain someone. The 2 of them had met under a willow tree in a quiet autumn, long before Raphael was cursed. She'd been writing something down in a notebook, likely scheduling something. That was one thing Raphael noticed about this moth that caught her attention. Another thing was her fur, the color of snow on a winter morning, and her lavender jacket. Radiant, her name was. A title that didn't seem to suit her in the eyes of most. Radiant was unassuming, yet so loud when she needed to be, almost like a bright light growing brighter in the face of darkness. Raphael loved how organized she was, how she always had a plan for everything, how she wasn't afraid to speak her mind, and most importantly, the devotion no other lover before her had given. Raphael didn't think she'd love again until that precious moth's passionate flame reignited her heart. Tonight would be the last time they'd meet, and they were both determined to make it count. Raphael entered the ballroom, scanning the room until her gaze fell upon that oh-so-familiar face, every perfect little detail included. It wasn't long before Raphael was sitting down with Radiant as the 2 of them chatted and shared drinks. "Oh, you're so lucky you didn't see what happened to that one guy. Poor kid made himself look like a train wreck - literally!" Radiant laughed, her arm and wing wrapped around Raphael as she blushed. Raphael listened to every story, saying whatever she could, the sound of her lovers voice being just enough.
