A crazy alchemist is working in a lab, using newly uncovered dragon fossils he's just found from ancient ruins of a great castle, which dated back to thousands of years ago. Excited by this new ingredient, he splits open the bones waiting to see the marrow residue, blood clots, or any other things he could find. But it came to shock when he saw that there was nothing there. A completely hollowed bone. He thought that he could give it life by mixing it with darkly matters, so he fused it with the following: A pure white diamond, 3 void shards, a lifeless crystal, and 3 drops of liquid void. He then cursed at the bone, claiming of its uselessness, and how he had wasted time and effort into making nothingness something useful, until a voice cried out from the bone. "I'm not useless!". The witch eyed at the bone very closely, "I fill up all that is nothing, so that it can have something in it! Don't you see, if I was never there then there would be absolute nothingness, no space in-between things, no whitespace, no hollow surfaces, it would all be chaos! wouldn't everything be more peaceful if there was nothing and not everything?" The witch, already angered with his creation, scolded the shadow, "uninteresting, that would be the world with nothing, now, leave me alone, your existence was a mistake, you have no meaning, no purpose, go away before you cause me to mess up something else". And thus the shadow went away to go search for things to be useful for. After a while, it has interacted with light many times, whenever travelers talked about it, they would associate it with fire, candles, lamps, lanterns. All things that the shadow held to be "useful". Ever since then, he wanted to control the fire, until he found on one very fateful day, the man that could do just that...
MC canon: takes place during book 1, act 3 Shadow cube's main power is the ability to manipulate and control every shadow within a certain radius, allowing him to see, hear, and feel everything those shadows do.
