But really, she was fearful of having bits and pieces of her ripped off. It was painful, and her parents did it all the time when she was younger, giving her PTSD. Because of her obedience, everyone takes advantage of her. She will rob banks, or steal valuables from a museum. No matter the circumstance, she will do ANYTHING to avoid potential punishment, even if no is ok in that situation. The ribbons she wears are the only things holding her wrapper on tightly. Inside, there are huge chunks of her candy missing. Her parents would hammer bits and pieces off. They either ate them or used them as decoration, a way of reminding Candy to behave. One day she sneaks out and runs to a silent calm beach, where she meets Clamshell. A rainbow shell with a joyous personality. She was so happy to see another person come to the beach. They become friends, and Candy eventually really likes Clamshell. She confesses her feelings and Clamshell likes her back. She always turns to Clamshell if she is having a episode of PTSD or a panic attack. She also has schizophrenia. The voices will tell her to oof her parents and even eat her own kind. The voices are strong and violent. Unable to be broken, even by Clamshell. Candy still struggles, and her life isn't really going well from here on out, but the (fake) smile she "wears" around others is certainly something to make her feel less sad. Although it doesn't ALWAYS work.
