important things: Passing Check for an open lane to cross into to pass a car/ truck in front of you Look in all the mirrors and blind spots for cars/trucks before moving into a different lane to pass Signal which direction you are moving in Make sure that the car you are moving around is not going to move into the same lane as you, so you don’t get in an accident Accelerate into the lane you are signaling, but don’t go faster than the speed limit Keeping to the Right Keep your car in the right-most lane in whatever direction you are moving Only use other lanes when you are passing, preparing to turn left, or when there is something in the road blocking your path R.R crossings Expect there to be a train there at all times Slow down to listen and look for a train before proceeding over the rails If you have to stop, stop at least 15 feet away from the railroad Stop if the bars are down, and obey all the signs that are around the railroad Drive slowly over the railroads; don’t speed over them School Busses Slow down when you see yellow lights on the top of the bus If there are red lights, then you need to stop your car, due to kids getting off the bus You can not pass a bus when it has its lights on Move over Law You have to move over to a different lane or slow down when you hear or see an emergency vehicle Slow down your car when you see an emergency vehicle on the side of the road
