===== Christmas Songs Leaderboard ===== Use the arrow keys, spacebar, or swipe the screen to scroll through the data. Use the buttons at the top to determine how the data will be sorted. Click the search box and type anything to search the data. Left arrow functions as a backspace. ===== What's this project about? ===== Every year I listen to Christmas songs on the radio, and every year I complain that I just hear the same songs over and over again. This year, however, I wanted to know the data. Which songs are being played most often? How many songs does the station use total? To figure this out, I listened to my local Christmas station every day this year and made a record of every song I could - its title and its performer. This Scratch Project automatically organizes that data into a leaderboard. ===== So...what am I looking at? ===== The number on the far left is the ranking. If there isn't a number to the left of an artist or song, then it shares a rank with the artist or song above it. The number on the far right shows the number of times that artist or song was played this year. ===== General Thoughts ===== - The repertoire has been expanded from last year, which is a good thing. Some of the recordings on this list were ones I'd never heard before this year. - The results in the "Song" section are much more predictable. In general, the songs that are high on the list are the ones that were played by a wide variety of artists. - The results in the "Artist" section are also somewhat predictable. Once again, the artists that are higher on the list are those who recorded several of the Christmas songs that were played this year. - To identify recordings I'd never heard, I used Shazam Music Recognition. In addition, my local Christmas station keeps a record of which songs they played, so I went off of that for some of this.
TurboWarp is HIGHLY recommended. Otherwise the project runs really slowly. ===== Credits ===== The text engine and the FPS detector are @griffpatch's. I also borrowed a technique from . Other than that I coded it all myself.
