Buh idk take these thingamajigs I made in school ig Click/tap to go to the next image
The first one was this manga art thingy we made, and the second & third ones were our DT projects, both are like a year old from school assignments and I decided to release them cuz birthday ig Ok so for more explanation as to what they are: Cool manga thingy In the weeks leading up to world book week, one book is recommended to each form / year / grade (they're interchangeable, here in Britain we call them years not grades so yea there's your bri'ish alert for the project), and the one recommended for our year was a book called "100 tales from the Tokyo Ghost Café", icl the book is lowkey peak you should read it, is, it's a mix of manga and prose (as in normal books), and during world book week the school got the manga artist, Chie Kutsuwada, to come and teach us how to draw manga. Also during world book week, we had Greek classes instead of Latin classes, which is what we'd normally have, so we have a taster of Greek in case we want to do it in 3rd form (aka the next grade when we start choosing subjects to pick up and drop), and one of the things we did in it was learn Greek myths. We then did a fusion dance of these two and painted manga strips which we then went over with fine liner where necessary based on said Greek myths, and as you can prob tell, mine is based on the myth of the Minotaur. (btw the bit that's censored out has raspberry juice so yea that's why) Oh yeah if you're confused as to the order, of the images, you read mangas from right to left instead of left to right, so I did that with mine to make it more authentic or whatever Big metal bird thing In the first term in DT (bri'ish alert again, our school years are split into three chunks, called 'terms') we learned about this guy called Charles Eames, who made a bunch of similar stuff to the bird, but of elephants and stuff, google him if you wanna, so we recreated his stuff in DT. We did it by first coming up with our designs, then we were given aluminium sheets, put masking tape on them so we could draw on them, drew our designs, and cut them (and smoothened the edges so you don't accidentally cut yourself or smth with them). We then obviously removed the masking tape, and since mine has a separate part of aluminium for the legs, I used this metal pin machine thingy to pin them together strongly. Cool speaker thingamajig So as mentioned in the name, the big box you see is a speaker. It was our final project of the school year last year, but I didn't finish mine so I kept it at home over the summer holiday and took it back to school when it resumed so I could finish it in DT club at lunchtimes. The circuitboard for the speaker was already made, so all we had to do was solder on (kiiinda like using a glue gun except you hold the glue, which is actually metal, to the tip of the gun, which is actually shaped more like a pencil and I'm starting to realise this comparison is falling apart) the two speakers and the USB cable to it. Then we created designs for the front / back / both of the speaker (yes I made mine that one screaming GD icon), and sent it to the school's laser cutter to be... well... laser cut for us. When designing, we had to make sure there were four big holes for the four big bolts, and four smaller holes for the four smaller screws. The small screws keep the speakers screwed to the wood. We then cut one long bolt into four, and got 8 nyloc nuts (the 8 thingies at the ends of the bolts, they're essentially normal nuts but they have nylon at the end that creates friction or smth according to google that stops the bolts from being screwed or unscrewed without the use of a spanner) and screwed them on to the bolts. BUT before this we cut a long cardboard tube, which is the thing in the middle, short enough that the finished speaker would vaguely be a cube, and removed a little hole for the USB wire to stick out of. We then assembled it all as you can see in the picture, and I glue gunned my USB wire to the cardboard thingy to stop it from being pulled and possibly breaking. If you're curious as to how it works, you plug in the USB cable to anything that can give it power, then connect to it via bluetooth and play whatever you want to. FUN* ANECDOTE TIME When making the speaker, and more specifically cutting the bolt, I burnt myself cuz I was smart enough to touch said bolt immediately after sawing it, which is NOT in fact something I would recommend as it was still hot from the friction and stuff of the saw, making a bolt-shaped burn on my right index finger for like 3 weeks ;0; If you're reading this you either (understandably) skipped to the end or went through the pain and suffering of reading my yap session; either way thx ig lol ok buh bye now there's prob like 100 typos in this but I can't be asked to proofread allat ok I said bye you can go now shoo ugh fine ok I'm making another thingy in DT and it's based* on deltarune that's all I'm saying
