I'm here to explain ALL the different types of Animation Memes. Now, there are more, but here are the basics. Each and every one starts with the umbrella term "Animation Meme". That's what they are. It's like calling a song "Music". Then they gradually spread out until you've deducted the right category. Scroll down to see! ANIMATION MEME An Animation Meme is typically a character, or multiple dancing or being animated to a song played in the background. It is a broad term, so it can mean many things. AMV An AMV is the abbreviation for "Animated Music Video", which is usually the most common of the two. It is described as the character being animated to the song or what is in the background. These are typically used with remix culture. PMV A PMV is the abbreviation for "Picture Music Video". It is the less common of the two types. This means that the character, rather than being animated, is more going through a storyboard. It's used to tell lore, rather than for remix culture. It can be used in many different ways. Let's get into the specifics! TRADITIONAL A traditional animeme can be either an AMV or PMV. These include the majority of animemes; hence, traditional. What it is is most likely a character dancing to the music with a chill background, and the character is usually an OC, rather than a template cat. It usually has little effects. It is mostly used to describe lore, or be itself. It isn't necessarily meant for Remix Culture, however, it is very common! MODERN A modern animeme is what you think of when you see the template cats. These ones are the animemes where there is a solid and bright background, usually not detailed, and there are LOTS of effects on the screen at a time. The music is also usually more intense and upbeat. These are very common too, and are the main ones used in CCs (Coding Contests), and also much more! These are most definitely for remix culture. These are usually ALWAYS AMVs, however, an animeme can be whatever! TECHNIQUE The technique animeme is the polar opposite of the modern. These used to be the most common animeme back in 2.0, when vector was not available. That's why most are from 4+ years ago. These typically have very little to no effects, and the background is usually detailed. The character, however, is most always an OC. These animemes are used to show off the art, lore, or technique. These can be AMVs or PMVs. And yeah! That's all of the basic ones I can think of! If you want some good examples, they are in the Notes & Credits section. Catch ya later! <3
