Welcome to Silver Sword! In this game, you are a young man teleported from our world into a fantasy world brimming with enemies that want your head! In each of the world's four corners lies a wizard, an omni-intelligent, powerful crystal being that defends a tower overlooking the world. The towers seem to be protecting something, but they're behind a barrier of some kind. Are these the keys to escape? And how do you get through? Terms and Items: HP: Milton's life force. If you lose all of this, you lose the game. Milton's life pool can be increased by potions or hearts. CON: Constitution. Milton's life pool can never raise above his constitution. You can gain up to 10000 total Constitution points over the course of the game. EXP: Experience points. A necessary resource needed to buy items, use magical items, and draw swords from stones. Gain experience by killing the enemies of the land. Items: Small Heart: Found commonly from defeated enemies. Increases Milton's current HP by 250 points. Can also be bought in shops. Big Heart: Buy these from a shopkeeper. These restore you to full health, as well as increase your Constitution by 1000 points! Make sure to get plenty of them over the course of a game. P-Bag: A rare drop from enemies, or inside previously-entered hives. These items give quite a bit of EXP when found. Don't miss them! Clue: You can get these from a shopkeeper, and they will tell you a secret to help you progress in the game. Map: Use it to see the world and navigate. You won't be able to see your location without the Compass, so try to locate yourself with landmarks and plan out paths until then. Bow: This weapon can shoot arrows that deal good damage and pass through walls. 10 EXP is consumed to fire an arrow. Illusory Ring: Creates a illusion of Milton that will try to lead the enemies away, confusing them and drawing away their fire. They each have an effective 500 HP, and burn enemies that touch them. Making a Clone costs 50 EXP. Shield: When used, Milton will bounce away projectiles, take half damage, and be invincible longer, for a couple seconds, at least. Costs 100 EXP per use. Ice Rod: Use this weapon to freeze enemies in place and do a little bit of damage. It costs 25 EXP per use. Compass: Shows Milton's map location, if you own a map. Additionally, if you use it itself, you can teleport to the side of the map you are pointing to! This function costs 100 EXP, but the navigator is free. Magic Stopwatch: This item can stop enemies and projectiles for a few moments! Costs 100 EXP per use. Magic Tome: Casts a mighty thunder spell on every enemy onscreen! This will both temporarily stun them as well as reduce them to only taking one hit to defeat! Bosses do not take damage from this item, however. Silver Sword: An improved magical sword that has more damage and range! This item is the only required upgrade to complete the game. Magic Sword: An improved Silver Sword that allows more sword speed, wall piercing, more damage and autofire! It will greatly help near the middle/end of the game, if you get it.
This is actually a game I made back last October or so for a game jam, but I was at first too nervous to publish it here, then just forgot. This is actually a slightly bugfixed version of the original Game Jam version. I'd like to keep this project in the state it's in, for preservation reasons, but if there's interest, I might make a deluxe version. Ehh... I'm not sure if that sort of interest exists for this.
