hello! here's my entry for neptune <3 all your designs are so gorgeous, I had a hard time choosing who to enter for ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀❝ instructions ❞ ✎ ! scratch ruined the quality, please use fullscreen ! ✎ click the left or right side of the screen to switch between versions ✎ click and hold to zoom in and move in ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀❝ notes ❞ ⅰ | finished version w/ dramatic lighting ⅱ | slightly less dramatic lighting ⅲ | no fancy lighting ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀❝ lore + bio ❞ Name: Despina (named after one of Neptune's moons) Age: No one knows anymore (including her) Personality: kind, wise, cheery, the kind of person who puts on a smile for others even with tears running down her face, always puts others ahead of herself Backstory: (It's basically a Romeo and Juliet retelling lol) (It's long, I'm sorry, I got carried away lolol) Despina was the daughter of a local fisherman in her small seaside village. Her family was loved by everyone, which caused tension and jealousy between her family and the sheriff's (basically their mayor) family. Everyone but the sheriff's son. He was a few years older than Despina and recognized his family's corruptness. He'd always admired Despina and her parents, just like everyone else in their village. Despina had a habit of walking along the seaside cliffs, oftentimes climbing down to the beach below to collect shells or check for sea creatures. One day, she stumbled upon the sheriff's son (who is currently nameless lol) throwing rocks from the cliff into the sea after a particularly rough argument with his father. She stopped him, pointing out the sea turtles visible on the sand below. They then sat on the edge of the cliff and talked about their families. (dang this sounds so cringe but I'm trying to keep it shorter and a little more vague so I don't run out of space :sob: If I win the character, I might write a full short story about Despina and her currently unnamed lover) After that day, they continued to meet there, walking along the shore and admiring the sea life. Until one day, the sheriff's daughter got suspicious and followed her brother to the cliffs where she saw him with Despina. Out of anger and fear that Despina would take her brother from her, she shoved Despina. Despina plunged into the waters below, hitting her head and falling unconscious. The sheriff's son immediately dove in to save her, but he struggled to pull her up with the strong undertow. After a minute of struggling, he finally accepted their fate. Holding her close, her closed his eyes as they drifted toward the sandy bottom of the ocean. The water swirled around them, and their was a burst of light. Despina gasped and blinked, trying to orient herself. Light filtered through the waves, casting patterns dancing over her and the... whale? She saw before her. The whale swam around her in slow circles and Despina looked into its eye and saw within them her lover. She soon realized that while she had maintained her human form, she had also grown a whale tail. The ocean had saved them, blessing (or cursing?) them with an eternity to roam the ocean together.
