Long ago in history, the fae held immense magical powers and ruled over the humans. However, after a long and grueling war and huge casualties on both sides, the fae had lost most of their power, and the ability to fly. They were forced into a peace agreement with the humans: they would stay in the deepest forests and not use their powers on any human, and the humans would not attack any fae. 500 years later, the peace treaty had held up. Bluebelle lived in a small fae settlement in a forest nearer than usual to human civilization. One night while exploring, she ran into a human child. The human attacked her, and out of reflex she fought back with her magic. Although she tried apologizing, the human had already run away, back to his town. It was a matter of hours before Bluebelle’s settlement was ash. Bluebelle was the only survivor, as her parents had hidden her before one last futile attempt to fight back. But humans had advanced in these years, and the fae had only a shadow of their former powers. All she had ever known was gone, and it was her fault. No, it was /their/ fault. The humans. They were the enemy. The rage that Bluebelle felt then was unlike anything in years. The emotions bubbled up inside her, until something else emerged: and the horrible powers that humans had feared all these years returned. Entire cities were decimated, gnarled roots and leaves consuming everything they touched. But Bluebelle couldn’t stop. She needed to make them pay. All of them needed to pay. So yeah, that's the story behind the picture! Maybe a little dark, but I had a lot of fun with it; if I don't win I'll definitely repurpose the character with a different design. I'm super sorry about the resolution, I tried everything but Scratch compressed it SO MUCH!! Also, the butterfly necklace is the only thing Bluebelle has left of her parents (they gave it to her) Design by Art & Backstory by me, (do not repost, trace, steal, etc) Song is In Blue by Declan McKenna
