AU Story: In 1982, David Mitton and Britt Allcroft wanted to make a children's television show about Reverend Awdry's popular Railway Series books. Awdry said yes, but Britt and David had a doubt that the show wouldn't go far, but they made a pilot in 1982. Their budget was only 1,000 dollars, so they couldn't buy that much paint. They only had blue, yellow, red and black paint. That's why the wheels and (pistons) are gray. The show was picked up, and some things were changed, turning into the model series we know today.
