The breeze ruffled the fur on Windstar’s back, making it bristle in anticipation. The stars were out tonight, and the moon was so full and bright it was hard to look at. 'This should be interesting. Starclan has been silent for a while, and recently twolegs have been encroaching on Wispclan territory.' Windstar crossed the Thunderpath that marked the path to the moonstone. He had to know what was going to happen, whether or not Wispclan would be forced out of their territory. As he neared the entrance to the cave that led to the place where cats could share tongues with their warrior ancestors, he realized that something was off. He thought he saw something move in the shadows, but it turned out to just be a bush. Still, he couldn’t shake the feeling that something was watching him as he entered the tunnels. The world went dark as soon as he went in. The caves were pitch black, and he only had his whiskers to guide him. He went on like that for a while before finally arriving at the huge cavern home to the glistening moonstone. I’ll never forget the first time I saw this place. Windstar thought remembering when his mentor brought him there, Of course, now, the situations are very different. He bent down to touch his nose to the shining stone when he noticed the small crack in it. He jolted back, staring at it. He then noticed that the crack was growing and in moments, it was almost big enough to break it in half. Windstar saw shapes moving in the milky depths, and seconds later, the stone burst, leaving fragments of rock scattered around the floor. He looked up and thought he saw the faint spirits of cats flowing up out of the base of what used to be the moonstone, but if there were any, they were gone in an instant. He tried to put the shattered gem back together, just to watch the pieces crumble to the ground. 'I hope I don’t have to tell Pineclan about this tomorrow at the gathering.' He thought to himself. When Windstar got back to camp, he made a beeline for the medicine den and told Rainsong about what happened. “It must be a sign. This is sure to not end well.” She responded as soon as she found out what had happened.
