Monsoonwatcher huffed, dragging his paws through the cold water lit only by a thin sliver of the crescent moon. Stars glittered dully overhead, masked by thin cirrus clouds. The air smelled like iron and fire from the recent storm that had swept across the Silver Shores territories, which meant that everything was still slippery. He was on a mission this night, and it was why he slipped out of camp when everyone was asleep, using darkness to his advantage. He pulled himself through the sea, claws sinking into the shore of a small sandbar island where crabs scurried back to their holes and clear pieces of strangely frosted and colored sea-ice washed up on shore. A cat was waiting for him there, tail wrapped around his slender dark paws. His lime eyes took in Monsoonwatcher with an air of concern, although if a cat looked close it could see deceit thinly veiled in their dark depths. "You're late, Watcher," The dark seacat meowed, padding towards the SeaClan warrior with his pawsteps sinking slightly into the sand. "I don't like it when you're late." Monsoonwatcher shifted uncomfortably, tail shifting sand in a neverending arc. "I'm sorry, Abyss, it was really hard to slip away this time...it stormed recently and the dens were soggy. We had to sleep outside." Abyss leveled his gaze and stepped close to Monsoonwatcher, laying a paw on the SeaClan cat's own. "I don't care. Next time, do whatever it takes. You don't want me to leave you, do you?" Monsoonwatcher drew his paw away, looking at the sand. "...no. I'll do better, I promise." Abyss let out a low rumble in his throat and narrowed his eyes. "How can I be sure of that, hmm? Do I have to come to camp and get you myself?" He paused, sliding out his claws. "....no. I'll give you this as a reminder." Abyss lifted his paw and slashed it across Monsoonwatcher's muzzle, watching the dark red blood drip onto the sand, staining it crimson. --------- Monsoonwatcher was done. They loved Abyss, yes, but did the rogue Seacat love him back? He seemed to, but Monsoon knew that they were just using him as an excuse to show off. This was the last time they would see each other, he thought, as they pulled themself onto the sandy beach. Abyss was waiting there, tail wrapped around his legs, watching the sun rise. "You're late. Again." He hissed, flicking his ears as he glared at Monsoonwatcher. "I'm getting tired of it." Monsoon took a deep breath and met Abyss's eyes. "I'm done, Abyss. We're over. I don't want to keep doing this." Abyss faked a yawn. "You can't actually mean that, Watcher," he whined, looking hurt. "We were getting along so well.." Monsoon glared at him. "No, we weren't! You were using me, Abyss. That's all we were, right?" Abyss snorted and turned around. "Fine, we can be over," he hissed. "But when you come crawling back to me begging for forgiveness, don't expect me to take you in." There was a threat in his words. "You can't tell SeaClan," Monsoon growled. "I won't let you! I don't want the clan torn apart because of you." Abyss threw one final, ice-cold look over his dark-furred shoulder. "Watch your back, Monsoonwatcher." he meowed, before slipping into the water. Monsoon sat down facing the waves and watched the sun rise on the sea, the blue water being lit by light.
