big eyes/heads/etc can definitely be a style choice but it can also sometimes interfere with figuring out anatomy, drawing expressions, etc Also the addition of more contrast/shading can help emphasize the characters more, the initial drawing was pretty even throughout in terms of light and the shading was very soft/pillowy. I usually shade fur with harder, "hairier" edges and not gradients especially with a close-up shot :-) hope this helps!!
