LORE: 1995 the Vanday 676A was in first position until it hit a deer on the track going roughly ~215MPH sending it into the air hitting barrier causing it to rocket towards the opposing barrier splitting the car into 2 bursting into flames plowing though the guard rail striking a group of spectators killing the driver and a spectator. 5 other spectators were injured due to several reasons varying from burns or debris hitting them. The incident made headlines due to Vanday's reputation of safety and reliability being proven otherwise showing that even the safest brands may not be safe. This incident caused new regulations to be put into place causing the phasing out of the 676A (Also the fact the 676A basically burned to the ground). Vanday ended up entering in 1996 with the 676B which had more safety tech and governors to prevent further incidents which resulted in 0 wins for the rest of the 676B's career. This accident led to huge advances in safety technology from Vanday and newer regulations in racing causing major changes for Vanday's racing career.
