The earth rats lived in underground tunnel systems and needed to adapt. They covered themselves in mud and other rock to protect themselves from harsh elements, other rats, act as cooling or heating insulation, and from falling rocks.They have a wrecking ball tail to dig through big rocks and they have rough whiskers to refine tunnels and dig through loose dirt. I’ve included 2 variants to show how the rocks around them affected their appearance.
