Hi guys! Here is my homework! About the art, I thought that we only needed to include 2 animals TOTAL, so I just included them both in the first art lol Unlike most foxes, Channel Island foxes typically inhabit pre-made dens and don't create their own dens. Common den sites include spaces between rocks, under dense bushes, inside hollow logs, and in rock piles. They are also known to use man-made structures if available. On the rare occasion that no suitable den is available, they do dig shallow ones in the ground. Although they can adapt to survive in almost all environments, Channel Island foxes favor woodlands and mediterranean/chaparral habitats over others. This is due to the fact that it offers abundant prey and shelters. Woodlands and chaparrals have hollow logs and small rock caves that make excellent fox homes. They also boast lots of small animals like deer mice (Peromyscus maniculatus), which the foxes prey upon. Channel Island foxes are solitary creatures, forming monogamous relationships (meaning they mate for life), and choosing and defending their territory. Males are slightly larger and heavier than females. Kits are born blind, deaf, and helpless, but by 4 months, they are considered full grown. At 10 months, they have reached sexual maturity. Kits are born with dark brown fur, but develop adult coloration as they grow.
