The Next Gen Combat Rifle (NGCR) program was a katzgravian rifle program integrated in the late 90s, finishing 2001. This is the first rifle to be developed in the program, soon to be adopted by the KAF, the XR27, designed and manufactured by the Golfe-de-Lune company Rutherford & Harrogate. The NGCR program was to create, as the name implies, a next-generation rifle that could feature a potential standardised round candidate, 6.8x43, coupled with cheaper-produced components, such as polymer parts. R&F's XR27 was designed to be easy to use as well as standardised, featuring an overhead, non-reciprocating charging handle, that can have the side of the bolt switched easily, similar to other rifle models used in the Kazgravian military, such as the KR20 family of rifles. Other features include ambi fire selectors, and an easy-to-press mag release, positioned right above the trigger, though is only on the right side. The rifle also features a bolt release on the left side of the receiver, for faster reloads. It's stock is the kazgravian-standard stock system, with the shape being able to take stocks from the KR family of rifles, as well as the LAR family of rifles, including stocks for the KAF 9mm family of submachine guns for CQC use. 2 experimental versions of the XR27 were made, the A1 and A2. The A1 was a simple, late 90s design, featuring a optic rail system on the carry handle, a short barrel, and a Jamalstani-based "2-point" folding stock. The A2 was intended for mid to long-range combat, the most common form for Kazgravian troops throughout conflicts. Featuring a longer barrel, improved 2000s handguard with more rail slots, and a KAF KR20-style stock, ths A2 was designed to be an easier transition for soldiers using the older KR20 platform whilst also being a step into the future, with new mounting availability. The XR27 also features a clear, 30-round polymer magazine, being lightweight compared to older, kazgravian-standard steel magazines. R&F has been specializing in Arms manufacturing since the 1950s, when the company was funded by the Golfe government to use it's steel press plants for firearm manufacturing. Since then, their enterprise has expanded, transitioning to more polymer-based firearms in the 70s and 80s, with the XR27 featuring a fully polymer frame and receiver.
Meeeee @mrdapotato Siuuuuuuuu Spent a lotta hours on this Will animate in future inspired by CZ bren 2, HK G36, FN Scar & other rifles no stealing >:( - hasn't happened yet but I want it to be clear bc I spend a lotta time on these arts and lastly, don't report/ST remove the project. It's only really intended for me to use, I just share it because people like the designs (I think idrk)
