Materials Colored construction paper or cardstock Markers, crayons, or colored pencils Scissors Glue stick or tape Googly eyes (optional) Popsicle sticks or craft sticks Instructions Create the body: Cut two sheets of construction paper into strips. Glue the ends of two strips together at a 90-degree angle. Fold the bottom strip over the top strip, creasing the fold firmly. Continue this "accordion" folding pattern until you reach the end of the paper strips. Glue the last ends together. For a longer dragon, attach and fold more strips. Make the head and tail: Draw and cut out a dragon head and tail from a separate piece of construction paper or cardstock. You can decorate these with markers, crayons, or even add fun details like googly eyes. Add details and fire: Cut small shapes for teeth, horns, or other features and glue them onto the head. For a fire effect, cut out flame shapes from red or yellow tissue paper and glue them inside the mouth. Assemble the puppet: Attach the finished head and tail to the ends of the accordion body using glue or tape. Add controls: To make the puppet easier to manipulate, glue popsicle sticks to the underside of the head and the tail. You can hold the sticks to make the puppet's body stretch and contract.
