Hi guys! I’ve been wanting to spread the gospel more with my content! So, I’m making a Bible study! Any Christians and others can join in, and we can study a verse or verses! \/ \/ \/ This week’s verse! 1 Peter 5:6-11 (ESV): Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you. Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. Resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same kinds of suffering are being experienced by your brotherhood throughout the world. And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you. To him be the dominion forever and ever. Amen. This is a longer passage than I normally put in the Bible study, but I just love these verses. I’ve had them saved for a while because I wanted to put them in the Bible study. I admit I’ve been procrastinating a lot on continuing this study. I’ve been drifting away from God again and I need to get back on track. Please pray for me to have more faith in God and to stop being lukewarm in my faith. Anyways, these verses are talking about keeping your trust in God, which is on topic for my situation right now. Let’s just go from the start to the end of all these verses. First it says “Humble yourselves,” this is a good thing to keep in mind. It’s easy to have a big ego or get too trusting in your own judgement rather than God’s. It’s important to stay humbled because we are sinful and we need God. If we think that we are perfect, that means we wouldn’t need Jesus to die on the cross for us. But the fact that He did, means that we obviously are very sinful and needed it. Next, these verses tell us to cast our anxieties on God. This is another thing I have not been doing as much recently. I’m a very anxious person, so there’s always something I’m worried about, but I found out that whenever I pray to God and tell him about what I’m worried about, it feels like the weight is taken off of me and like God physically just takes the anxiety away, it’s really great! We should always remember to tell God about what we are worried about, everything is going according to God’s plan and we have nothing to worry about. :) Next it tells us to resist the devil. We will always be getting tempted by the enemy, but it is crucial to avoid these temptations and try to remove everything that can trigger them. I get tempted a lot. To be lazy, to lie, to do a lot of things I definitely should not be doing. Have you ever noticed that when you do these things, even though they might seem satisfying at first, you never feel fulfilled after them? This is just something to think about. Next, the verses mention that there’s a lot of people going through similar situations to your own all around the world, there’s always someone who can relate to you, and theres always a way to get through these things. Me, personally, have gone through a lot, more than a lot of adults I know. I fell into depression for a while. I drifted from God and felt like all hope was lost. But when I got my dog, Scout, it was God sending me a friend to help me get through it. I got more motivated, more joy, and I started reading my Bible again. God doesn’t put you through something He knows you can’t get through. Do not fear, only believe. (I know this is a verse I just can’t remember which one, sorry :’0) And lastly, the verses talk about Jesus’s second coming and the hope and joy we can have while waiting for it. I’m sorry this is so long, it may be TL;DR unfortunately :’) I trailed off a lot this time, sorry!! Anyways, God bless, tysm if you read all this, feel free to continue discussing this in the comments! Thanks for reading! :)
