The Ship Roles Command & Operations Division (These are the crew members who run the ship's day-to-day functions and lead missions.) Captain: The ultimate authority on the ship. Makes the final decisions. (This role is often best as a non-player character, or NPC, managed by the RP owner to guide the story). First Officer: The second-in-command. Organizes the crew and executes the Captain's orders. Helmsman/Pilot: Steers the Stellara Ark through space. Highly skilled in maneuvering the massive ship. Shuttle Pilot: Specializes in flying the smaller landing craft used for exploration and transport to and from the planet's surface. Navigator: An expert in star-charting and astrophysics. Plots courses and scans celestial bodies for dangers or points of interest. Communications Officer: Manages all internal ship communications and monitors for any potential external signals. Science & Exploration Division (The curious minds eager to step onto new soil. These roles are perfect for landing party members.) Chief Science Officer: Oversees all research and exploration teams. Xenobotanist: Studies alien plant life. Their job is to determine what is safe, what is useful, and what is dangerous. Xenobiologist: Studies alien animal life, from microorganisms to large creatures. Geologist: Analyzes the soil, rocks, and geological formations of new planets to understand their history and resource potential. Cartographer/Surveyor: Responsible for mapping the new world. They create the charts and topographical data that everyone else relies on. Historian/Archivist: Studies the Ark's history and the legends of Earth. On the new world, they are tasked with studying alien ruins and deciphering their secrets. Climatologist: Monitors and predicts the weather patterns on the new planet, a crucial role for the safety of landing parties. Engineering & Technical Division (The crew that keeps the Ark running. They are the ship's lifeblood.) Chief Engineer: The head of all technical departments. Knows the Stellara inside and out. Life Support Technician: A vital role. They maintain the ship's air, water, and artificial gravity systems. Propulsion Specialist: An expert on the ship's massive stardrive and sublight engines. Mechanic/Technician: A general-purpose repair-person. They fix everything from malfunctioning doors to shuttle engines. Robotics Engineer: Maintains the ship's army of maintenance drones, rovers, and computer systems. Medical & Life Sciences Division (Responsible for the physical and mental well-being of the entire crew.) Chief Medical Officer (Doctor): The head doctor, responsible for the health of all crew members. Medic/Nurse: Provides medical support and first aid. A critical member of any landing party. Psychologist/Counselor: Helps the crew deal with the stresses of deep-space travel and the anxieties of exploring an unknown world. Geneticist: Monitors the long-term genetic health of the "Uplifted" species aboard the ship. Security & Operations Division (They protect the ship and its crew from internal and external threats.) Chief of Security: In charge of maintaining order and safety on the Ark. Security Officer: The "police" of the ship. They patrol, investigate issues, and act as armed guards for dangerous away missions. Scout/Pathfinder: Specializes in stealth, survival, and reconnaissance. They often go ahead of the main landing party to assess danger. Quartermaster: Manages the inventory of all supplies, from food rations to exploration equipment.
