Aspenleap was born to Willowbranch and Scathfoot with her brothers Ironclaw and Nettlespark. Scathfoot died in a scuffle before she was born. Willowbranch was very strong minded and raised her kits in the likeness of her, but was rather disgusted on her daughter's softness and liability to follow the rules, even if they were wrong. She often called Aspenleap "unworthy" of being her daughter and "nothing like the rest of the family". Willowbranch, Ironclaw, and Nettlespark were the leaders of the rebellion early into Dragonstar's leadership. They rallied other cats and tried to overthrow him. They came very close. Willowbranch sent both of her sons to assassinate Dragonstar. That morning, Dragonstar presented their bodies as proof that the rebellion could never win. Not long after, Willowbranch was found dead on the territory. No one knew who had killed her. Unlike the rest of her family, Aspenleap was docile and kind-spoken, which earned her much hate from her mother. She followed Dragonstar's every order and was very obedient. After he divorced his mate Forestfrost, Aspenleap started dating Ravenfeather of EmberClan. After he moved to FlowerClan, she bore his kits, whom she named Willowkit, Ironkit, and Nettlekit, after her family.
