Pro tip: Don’t date her unless you want to be with her, your whole life. Also don’t be like me and read her diary because you were curious to know what she thought of you after your break up. She… will find out. And be incredibly mad at you in ways that are unmeasurable in any shape or form. “There’s a house on the on hill.” I didn’t look up. “Uh-Huh…” “I was thinking that we could go…” “Absolutely not.” I continued to scroll through my messages. I refused to be dragged into another one of her fanciful schemes to prove the existence of whatever she was trying to do now. Especially not the ones involving vampires, even her alien ones were more justifiable. Vampires clearly did not exist. “I think that you shouldn’t have read my diary.” Why the void did she have to be so good at guilt tripping me? “When are we going?” “Tomorrow night.” “Liz- That’s when the moon’s red.” I glanced up from my phone. “Well. You should’ve thought about that when you read my diary. I groaned. “Fine…” Lizzie made me regret every single one of my life choices most days. “You’re paying for all of my hospital bills though.” I added. Even though I didn’t believe there would be vampires, there was still the possibility of… shady figures. Sometimes I wondered why I had chosen to have dated her of all people. *The next night* “I still don’t believe vampires exist. Just want to put that out there.” Lizzie ignored me, focusing on driving. “And if we die it’s your fault.” I added. She rolled her eyes. “Joel shut up.” “I’m just-“ She glared at me. “I’ll shut up.” I decided. She went back to ignoring me and focusing on driving. The castle was kind of spooky. I had to give her that. Still in pristine condition though. I took my phone out. There was weirdly still signal here. My thoughts were disturbed by the noise of a camera clicking. Lizzie was using one of those cameras where you take a picture and it automatically prints them out. “What are you-” I began. “If we don’t have proof, we’ll seem crazy.” She interrupted. “You’ll seem crazy.” I corrected. “I didn’t want any part in this.” She shrugged. “You won’t be saying that when I prove to you that vampires exist.” I leaned on the door. “Well-” The door opened unexpectedly while I was still leaning on it. I didn’t have time to say anything snarky before I fell. “This is going to be AMAZING!” Lizzie ignored that I was lying on the floor because I had fallen over. She stepped over me. When I looked at her expectantly, she frowned. “What are you looking at me for? You can pick yourself up.” Again. Making me wonder why I had chosen to date her of all people. And then she calmly walked past me. I sighed, before picking myself up off of the floor. I turned on my phone torch. “Let’s split up. Call me if you see anything.” Before I could object, Lizzie skipped off. Leaving me by myself in a very safe house that definitely didn’t have any shady people at all. It seemed perfectly pleasant other than the whole spooky house vibe. Tastefully furnished too. Seemed like someone or something had lived here recently. Hopefully, they weren’t still here. I shone my phone torch on what I hoped was a light switch. I ran through the worst-case scenarios in my head. They all ended in death. Oh well… I was going to die someday anyway. I flicked the switch; the lights flickered on illuminating what I assumed was a kitchen. There was some blonde guy standing there in what I hoped where Pyjamas. If he wore that out and about then I’d be a bit concerned. “Hello?” “Hi!” He was British like me, then judging from the accent. “I’m Jimmy.” He smiled at me, totally disregarding the fact that he had a stranger in his kitchen. “You want some cookies?” Before I could reply, he grabbed a very large jar labelled ‘Cookies’ off the shelf. He put it on the table, taking it off as he did. I took one after seeing him eat one with no ill consequences. Pretty nice cookie actually. “Did you make this?” I asked him. “Nope. Martyn did.” “Martyn?” “One of the vampires I live with.” I nearly dropped my cookie. “I’m sorry, what?” “One of the vampires here. There’s me, Apo, Martyn, and Scott…” He trailed off, eyes widening as he seemed to see something behind me. (Cont in n & c)
//Continued from the description// I turned around slowly, fully expecting to see some horrible monster behind me. There was some guy dressed in… probably the poshest pyjamas I’d ever seen. “Jimmy…” He looked really… unhappy. “What did I say about telling humans about VAMPIRES?!” His tone was icy cold and quiet. Oh void… This was not going to be good.
