It has a lot of charm! :D However, 31-37% very blatantly steals the wave from Cataclysm, and there isn’t much creativity for it that separates it (I won’t say the same about 78%, it’s similar gameplay to the GRIEF wave at 30% but it has its differences, so I won’t really spit at it). I have beef with this level gameplay-wise. Imo, it’s so poorly made and chokepoints ARE SO PERSISTENT that I honestly feel like this was barely playtested, if at all >:/ It’s the first time that I’m seriously willing to do bugfixes, but I wanna keep the original difficulty… even though the chokepoints and unbalanced playthrough already, IMO, make this a low-end Extreme Demon when this should really be only Insane Demon or even Hard Demon difficulty. ———————— -ˋˏ ༻❁༺ ˎˊ- ———————— ᴄᴏɴᴛ. ɪɴ ᴅᴇsᴄʀɪᴘᴛɪᴏɴ
ᴄᴏɴᴛ. (don't take my criticism too seriously <3) ———————— -ˋˏ ༻❁༺ ˎˊ- ———————— ᴅᴇsᴄ. (2) ʕノ•ᴥ•ʔノ 0-17% is the pre-drop, and the most consistent part out of anything (seriously), and honestly… I don’t have anything else good to say. 17-31% is the beginning of the drop, and all of a sudden, it’s a huge step up in difficulty. I love the decoration (who doesn’t??), but gameplay-wise this is HORRIBLE TO PLAY from 0, and, to an extent, STILL TRUE from the beginning of it (17%). It is filled with chokepoints that will probably never get consistent. (especially 21%) Even with 139 drop attempts, 118 of them are between 17-21% (with the most being 21% WITH 38 DROP ATTEMPTS), and ONLY 21 OF THEM ARE PAST 21% (and even yet, my bad nerve control has basically ruined almost all my chances past 21%, especially with my unfortunate 29% on Day 9). I got SO LUCKY with this part from 0% LMAO, I fluked the entire ship within only 2 new bests (17%→24%→33%), and I haven’t gotten a new best since then (please help). 31-37% is a bit step down in difficulty, but it’s still really hard, and the nerves would probably get to me at this point (cause bruh, it’s the Cataclysm wave, just nerfed a bit :<). The consistency is still quite bad, and you can probably tell why I hate this part LOL. It just doesn’t fit the whole “Death Moon” vibe. 37-41% is a well-deserved break after the unbalanced mess we just went through, although the timing is actually tighter than it seems. I don’t have any hate for it though, and I stand by it :D (why does this remind me of the brick design in Yatagarasu ;-;) 41-47% is the UFO section right after the “break” section. Unlike the others, by itself it actually fits quite nicely, and it’s quite balanced (except for one click, but that’s a “me” issue) except with the normal-sized UFO right at the end of it. By itself, this section is fine, but the entrance to the next section is really bad and “buggy”. 47-54% is probably the WORST section in terms of “buggy” gameplay. I will want to clear one thing up, though: the swing copter section is NOT bad, and it’s quite consistent tbh, which is quite the surprise for someone who HATES swing copter. The transition into it IS NOT. In many cases, it will either make you slam into the spikes right next to it before you get a chance to fly up, or it just straight up flies down and kills you instantly. The ONLY decent solution (that I’ve found) is to click twice in the normal UFO, then TRIPLE-CLICK within HALF A SECOND to make the swing copter go up. Not only is this click pattern just weird and inconsistent (and it doesn’t even work half of the time, sometimes you need to click TWO TIMES instead of three, so this is basically RNG-), but the velocity that you go up is way higher than probably intended, and it’s quite hard to get back down in time AND react in time for the yellow orb ahead (I keep missing it LOL). Just to show my frustration, within only 150 to 200-ish attempts with a checkpoint at 37%, I have 37-46%x16 and 37-47%x61 LMAO (day 4). I only got several runs past the stupid chokepoint, and most of those didn’t even pass 49%. Only two runs did (37-52% + 37-74%, I FLUKED THE WHOLE NEXT SECTION LOLLLL), and I never got back there again for that day, when it was well past 200 attempts from 37%. 54-74% is certainly better than 48-54%, but that doesn’t mean it’s easier. The first part is fine, easy, and consistent, but the second part is a different story. Since you are a normal-sized ship and with x3 speed, it’s quite hard to pass and straight-fly many of the saws in this section. Realistically, though, I stand by this section, and it’s probably one of my favorite ones despite my inconsistency in the second half of this part. 74-88% is really fun to practice with. The consistency can change constantly, which can be quite annoying… Although practicing it from the beginning of this is quite engaging and honestly fun to play and practice. There are a few hard spam gaps and a freaking “GRIEF-shaped (grief 30%, iykyk)” wave part, but otherwise it’s quite balanced and honestly has quite the charm in the modern GD world (with the GRIEF verification and all). I just feel like putting this instead of the Cataclysm wave at 31% would be better ;-; 88-100% is the last part of Heresy. What’s so special about this level to me is the FREAKING CUSTOM SAWBLADES. I am a HUGE SUCKER for those things. Otherwise, the gameplay is fine and completely readable. It fits well for the “last part” of such a chaotic level, and the vibe of the atmosphere is perfect for it :D I do see the work and effort built into this, and I do like how a lot of the work is done, but the level feels awkward in its unbalanced and unfair gameplay. I will say, however, that the creator, @xStep13, did a great job in doing much justice to some of the most nostalgic parts of 1.9 Death Moon and keeping its charm through at least some of the level in Heresy. wish me good luck :3 ———————— -ˋˏ ༻❁༺ ˎˊ- ————————
