Mossy Trails Chapter 1 Ivy crouched down to get a better look at a small white flower. It had a golden center, and a deep green stem. Most people would know it as a daisy. “Bellis perennis.” She whispered, reaching out with a single finger to feel the petals. That was the scientific name of the flower. She spent a lot of time studying flora and fauna, so she was well educated on scientific names. There was another daisy laying on the ground, dead. She did want a flower behind her ear, but she obviously didn’t want to pick an alive one. So, she reached down and carefully lifted the dead daisy, and tucked it under her auburn hair. Ivy then stood back up and smoothed down the hem of her sage green skirt. After a few minutes of walking, Ivy reached her den. It was a huge oak tree (Quercus robur) hollow. It gaped open, with tendrils of lichen hanging down. In the middle was a large but smooth stone, covered in soft moss. Ivy kept small booklets of scientific names in a rock that had small ledges, and she kept her wolf mask and tails in a hole under the central stone. Ivy noticed something small, something she hadn't seen in the den before. She wanted a closer look, so she dropped onto all fours and trotted over to the new object. A paper, someone sent me a letter? She thought, surprised. Ivy stood back up, grabbing the paper. She carefully opened it. What is this? Mossy Trails Therian Camp Hello Ivy Clark! But how did the letter get here?? She pondered on. Oh well. I should just be glad I might get to go there. Ivy then placed the slightly crumpled paper into her beige crossbody bag, and dropped back onto 4 limbs and trotted back to her home. ******************************************************************** Finally, Ivy reached her house. She stood back up, and swiped the dirt from her pale yellow flower shirt. She had fallen in dusty dirt piles two times on the way home. Reaching out to turn the golden-colored doorknob, she opened the door, entering her large home. “Mom? Dad?” Ivy called out. She then heard soft footsteps heading her direction. “After you tell us what you were going to say, we have some very good news.” Her mom said, grinning. Both the mom and dad sat on the couch, ready to listen.
