Ok I know it’s been a hot second since my last project but in my defense I’ve been slaving away on the Cricketcry ref and haven’t done much else other than that art-wise GRKFHDKEJ Cooked up this Cricketsong piece based on Spoken For earlier so deciding to put it on here!!! I /was/ thinking of just waiting to put it in the eventual art dump on main, but in all honesty I. really do not know when I’m going back to main lol. I keep meaning to and I downloaded all of the art for the art dump already + finished most of the description for the ‘break is over’ project but my sleep either just keeps not aligning right OR I don’t feel up for putting it together, so it’s kinda just in limbo rn. Realistically I should’ve been back a week or so ago but I would be a lying man if I said that it wasn’t kinda nice over here :sob: ANYWAYS ummm Cricketsong!!! I’ve been meaning to make Cricketcry-ified song covers of some songs on their playlist for a hot second now, and since I have to make some for their ref, I thought that now would be as good of a time as ever to get started on them seeing that I need to make a handful of pieces like that for their ref I honestly haven’t really talked about Cricketsong / Cricketcry before they became Cricketcry too much, so I’m gonna take this opportunity to do that now!!! Best I can describe them is to imagine religious trauma incarnate but make the cat VERY unaware they have religious trauma and intense religious guilt. Oh and add on the fact they’re also in a cult but still do NOTT realize it whatsoever and are left having an extremely strong belief in the cult’s ideology like a decade or so after the clan gets killed off in the tcc finale. They’re carrying around that overwhelming guilt all the way up until afc arc 6 btw and just so we’re all clear the beliefs that their clan’s leader / Moth spouted were VERY not based in reality and was only ever used as manipulation tactics (especially towards Cricket) but I digress that’s a whole other story Also they may or may not lack a sense of self since they were never given an opportunity to develop a full identity of their own which then leads to them just assuming whatever persona is needed in whatever situation they’re in seeing that their brain is in constant survival mode. Another lesson in why childhood trauma is very not good for the psyche, manipulation is quite bad, and Moth absolutely deserved the dark forest. I mean hey at least we got afc arc 6 act 1 which allowed us to get some Cricketcry healing but those 15 or so years beforehand were ROUGH Also if you’re wondering yeah pretty much all Cricketcry lore is like this. Cannot wait for the eventual afc guide where I get to explain it!!!! (Which yes I am STILL trying to work on…. idk when it’s gonna be out but hopefully within the next few months AUGH)
