Welcome to Heart and Steel, a battle simulator inspired by Redwall by Brian Jacques! --- Disclaimer --- The font is a custom font (Palatino), so it may render differently on different devices or browsers. --- Instructions --- The battles are represented by the following: Heart: This represents both the fighter's health and will to fight. If this reaches zero, the fighter loses the battle by fleeing. Steel: This represents a fighter's skill, in general. Nerve: This represents a fighter's speed. Whichever opponent has a higher Nerve goes before the other by default. - How a Battle Works - The battle works as a simple loop, with a few options for both sides to choose: Press the Attack (Spend 1 Steel): Basic damage move. If you have more Steel than your opponent, you deal two Heart. If otherwise (they have more Steel or tied), you deal one Heart. The damage can be altered if your opponent uses Feint and Strike or Stand Fast. Feint and Strike (Spend 2 Steel): You use two Steel no matter what, but you only deal damage if your opponent uses Press the Attack. However, you deal a significant three damage if this succeeds, while your opponent deals none. Stand Fast (Spend 1 Nerve): You reduce all incoming damage by one Heart. Warcry (Spend 0): You roar a battle cry, recovering Steel. Sieze the Initiative (Spend 0): You get two Nerve. Either combatant can also choose if they want to Speed Surge, which will let the user go first, at the cost of one Nerve. This does not count as a turn. If both players use this, the one with the higher Nerve goes first.
