Chapter 5: Hidden Fear I stand there, looking at this, "thing". It's Link but, wrong. His eyes are crimson red, skin blackish grey, clothes all black. "Who....who are you?" I ask. "Who am I? Why that's almost offensive Zelda. But then again, I can't blame you for not remembering, me." Dark Link says with a sly smirk. Impa steps in front of me and Purah steps beside me. "Something tells me that isn't our Linky" Purah says. "Ah yes. The famous Link. You see, things get...Complicated when someone brings up that name, around me." Dark Link says "Enough chit chat, it's time you started explaining!" Purah says, putting one arm in front of me Dark Links smile fades. He looks at Purah, calculating, then the sly smirk returns. "I am the Shadow King. The Son of Darkness. I also have other titles that have been given to me, such as The Mirror of Courage, The Fallen Reflection, The Shade of the Hero, The Echo of the Blade." Dark Link lists while walking closer to the three of us. "So you're Links shadow?" Impa says, not really asking. "You're... Dark Link?" I say, mostly to myself. "Dark Link? Well... that's a new one, but I suppose you can call me whatever you like. After all I don't control you......Yet." Dark Link says. "I don't understand... what are you?" I ask "That, is a good question. One that I don't have time to answer. But everything will be revealed in time. Now, I'd love to stay and chat ladies but I have somewhere to be. And Zelda," Dark Link says I freeze when he calls my name. "You're coming with me." He says, his smile lowers just a bit. "She's not going anywhere with you jerk." Purah says her arm in front of me. "Trust me, I don't want this anymore than you do." He says in a somewhat bored/annoyed tone. "What do you want?" I ask, trying to stay strong when really I'm confused and worried for Link. "What do 'I' want?" Dark Link asks, then he scoffs. "That's complicated. Again you'll have your answers in time. But right now, I need to take all the steps to get what I want. Which includes taking you." Dark Link says stepping closer. Impa doesn't say anything, she just attacks. Purah grapes my wrist and runs down the hall taking me with her. But Dark Link uses his shadows to wrap around Purah, pinning her down. "Run Zelda! Don't look back!" Purah says. "I can't leave you both here!" I say "You're time will come for you to hel-" Impa starts to say but Purah interups her. "JUST DO WHAT WE SAY AND RUN!!! NOW!!" Purah commands. "But I-" I start to say. "ZELDA!" Impa says sternly at me, demanding that I obey. I hesitate, but then I run. I turn and run, not looking back, tears starting to form from my thoughts of Purah and Impa not making it back. 'There going to make it out of there' I think to myself. I run and run for what feels like hours. My legs are burning, my lungs aching. Every inch and part of my soul screaming at me to stop! Every part of my mind telling me to turn back. But I don't listen, I just keep running forwards until I can't. I collapse not the ground, catching myself with my forearms. I look back, I have no idea where I am. I take a beat, recovering from all that running, then push myself up. I look around and only see the desert. Nothing else. I walk for hours. Trying to find something, anything. A person, a place. A sign. I can't take it, the heat is too much. I'm tired and hungry, and the sun feels like it's cooking me alive. I fall into the ground and everything goes black. I wake up. Not in the same place, but on a bed, in a house. I sit up slowly. My body still sore. "Ah, Little Bird. You're finally awake." I hear someone say not far from me. I know exactly who it is. I look in the direction that I heard it and sure enough there stands Urbosa. All the tension I once had melts away into relief. "Urbosa!" I say, starting to stand up. But Urbosa interfers. "Not yet, you need your rest." She says walking over and putting her hand on my shoulder. Then looks at me, studying me. "Looks like you've been through quite the adventure. Care to share?" She asks. I tell her everything. How Link got taken, how I ran away. How Purah and Impa went with me to go find Link. And how I had to leave them behind because of Dark Link. "Dark Link you say? Yes I've heard of him. He's most likely after your power. Zelda, you must never let him know that you've already activated it." Urbosa says. I nod. "We have to go back and get them!" I say to Urbosa. Hiding my fear behind my command. "I'll go with some of my soldiers. You still need to rest. You've done all you can, we'll take it from here." Urbosa says. "But I haven't done all I can! I can still help, I can still help find Link." I say. "Link is strong. If you didn't find him at the Yiga hideout I'm sure he's escaped and trying to find you as we speak. The best thing you could do is wait here." Urbosa says. _____________________________________________Read the rest below:
Chapter 5, Hidden Fear: Continued. "I'm so tired of waiting. I've postponed the ceremony of me being the princess of Hyrule out of fear and look where that's got us! All I ever do is wait. I wait when I can't do anything but now I have a chance to help. I'm not missing that opportunity." I say. "And how can you help now? How is this any different from any other case? Because this time Links is missing? The roles don't switch because the situation changed, Princess. They merely act at a different time." Urbosa says, then walks towards the door. Before she leaves the room, she looks over her shoulder, not turning around. "You're not useless, Zelda. You just have a different skill set. One that will be needed in time." She says then leaves the room. I sit there and think about what she said, a little embarrassed about how she called me out. She's right. Link is strong. Much stronger than I could ever be. But If Dark Link really is Links shadow, that means that Dark Link is as strong as him. Maybe even stronger. 'I'm not just going to sit here and wait. That's what he'd expect from me.' I think to myself. I decide to wait until nightfall, when Urbosa and her soldiers leave to go find Purah and Impa, and when all the gerudo are asleep. I then sneak out, which isn't too hard because no one knows I'm not supposed to leave. I head to the Yiga hideout that we went to where I left Purah and Impa. I reach it and enter, going down the same path that I did last time. But it felt different. There seemed to be mist on the ground, the stone walls were as cold as ice. The shadows seemed to pulsate as if they were, alive. Multiple Yiga members on the ground. Their bodies are there but their souls are absent. I reach the room were I first met Dark Link. I open the door, revealing Impa and Purah on the ground. They're still breathing though. "Interesting. You're resilient. Stubborn... or perhaps just foolish." I hear someone say from the other side of the room. A chill runs down my spine. I know who it is, It's dark Link. But I really thought he'd be on his way to find me. I didn't think he'd think I'd come back. But all I know is, I'm in trouble. _____________________________________________ End of Chapter 5 _____________________________________________ I hope you liked chapter 5.
