In the middle of an ordinary forest, there laid a castle, colorful and flashy. It wasn't the biggest; it couldn't reach the apples on an oak tree and it was about as wide as a pickleball court. It was decorated with seemingly whatever what on the ground; dried flower petals, random mushrooms, and seemingly a million feathers. All you could see in this castle was a large table, full of strange trinkets, like scraps of a picnic blanket, a blue jay's feather, and a squirrel's tail. But most notably, the bright purple flowers of lupin, filling the air with the sickenly sweet scent of nectar. On the walls were drawings in drabby watercolor, picturing different types of creatures, though it was hard to tell what they really were. A brown, slender tail with the body of a sparrow and the head of a fox. A porcupine, shining in azure hues, with the beak of a hawk. This was all made in the hands of Buttercup, the little creature that was.... well... their body was round, but that was all that was really... theirs. Her body changed as they ate the assortment of treats on her table. The scraps from the picnic blanket became a red, plaid pattern on Buttercup's pelt, the jay's feather turned their wings a bright blue, and the squirrel's tail grew onto their back as an old lizard tail fell off their back. The lupin's vivid purple left barely any pattern on Buttercup, only a patch of purple on her new tail. After eating even the crumbs off their table, Buttercup strolled out of their castle, in the middle of the night. Taking off a few of the feathers adorning their castle, they dragged their treats onto the table, preparing for their next meal. Of course, the forest gave out all sorts of treats. A dragonfly caught in an old cobweb, a shining beetle, and a butterfly's wing. However, as the collection of treats grew and grew, Buttercup caught wind of another, sweeter scent; the scent of Euphorbia. Its leaves didn't seem to have any beautiful colors; just the same old green of every other plant in the forest. But its formations were so peculiar that Buttercup had to eat them. They had to. Following the fragrent scent, she picked out Euphorbia, one by one. Any stalk of the beautiful plant would get snatched by Buttercup in an instant. Slowly, but surely, the scent of Euphorbia started to fade, and Buttercup was growing worried. The Euphorbia was gone. They could only go for the scraps they had in their castle, so they started to eat. The Euphorbia's formation started growing onto Buttercup's skin. It was working. More and more, the branches and leaves grew all around Buttercup, making her feel something. That something... Must be happiness, right? Eating more and more, Buttercup's body became stiffer and hard to control. But they had to eat the Euphorbia. As they took another bite, their arms, their legs, their body had became numb. Her mouth became smaller, and it took them at least an hour to take another bite. As they did, though, their mouth sealled up, and she couldn't eat anymore. So much Euphorbia on the table, and she couldn't eat any of it. She had to stay as a frozen thing forever, seen by no-one.
