"Any luck on getting a date for the dance?" Scarlett asked Christine. "Nope." She said, without even looking up from her book. To tell the truth, she hadn't even tried to find a date. Christine had always wanted to go with Cooper Sprout, a boy in her year, but finding out that he had been Kerina's cousin had completely shattered that thought. "Christine, are you even trying?" Krystal asked with an eye roll. "Nope." She said again. "I have," Elise boasted, "I'm going with Charles Jacob." "Who?" Christine asked. "Third year," Elise waved it off. Christine sighed. She didn't want anything to do with this dance, but she didn't want to show up all alone. Just then, she heard Kerina's smug voice behind her, Christine expected to be immediately ambushed by some insult, but Kerina didn't even notice her. Kerina was busy talking sweetly to Peter Cambel, a pureblood boy in tyear. "Now you have to get a date, Christine," Scarlett muttered. "Yeah, there's no way you can go alone if KERINA has a date," Krystal said, "C'mon, if she can get one, you can definitely find someone. "I don't WANT to go to the stupid dance," Christine snapped. "Okay, we'll leave you to it," Scarlett said. Just as they left, Christine felt someone tap her shoulder. She spun around and saw Cooper behind her. "Hi?" Christine asked. "Um, hi." Cooper said, quite awkwardly, "Wanna go to the dance with me?" Christine blanked. This was exactly what she wanted to ask him, and there Cooper was, right in front of her. "Oh, um... sure, I guess?" Christine said, almost as though she was asking him. "Great," Cooper said, clearly more enthusiastically, "See you there," He said as he walked away. Christine heard someone clear their throat from behind her. It was Scarlett. "YAY! Now you don't have an excuse to not come!" Scarlett said. Truth was, Christine now wanted to go, as in really wanted to go. "Okay, now you have to find a dress to wear," Scarlett instructed. "What? Where am I gonna get a dress?" Christine asked. "Just send Aster to your parents and ask for one." Christine went back to her dorm and found Aster on her bed. Tying the note onto his leg, Christine opened the window and Aster hopped onto the ledge obediently. "Just don't tell them why I need the dress," Christine told Aster jokingly, "They'll freak out."
