Starting when he was born, Asura was subject to Ruffian's harsh, even dangerous training, where he would attack Asura until he couldn't bear the pain anymore. Unsatisfied with the results, Ruffian abandoned Asura, leaving him to fend for himself. This is why Asura will do anything to win; he thinks that if he wins enough, Ruffian will accept him as his son, after many years.
