For the showcase I wanted to show off some of her polework and how she’s gone with desensitization, I got her out of her pen and tacked her up before heading to the arena. Before I did the obstacle course I set up, I grabbed the flag I had set out, and rubbed her on the neck, belly, legs, and face with. I then put it up and grabbed a tarp from the fence. I crinkled it up, and River perked her ears up and faced me. I walked over, had her sniff it, and started touching her with it, and put it over the saddle. River moved her ears to focus on the tarp, but did not spook. I then up it up, mounted her and started the course. We first walked the perimeter of the arena before turning inside to go the opposite direction toward the poles. We trotted to the ‘maze’ where I transitioned to a walk and wove through, before picking up a trot over some raised poles to the two parted circle. River hopped over the last one instead of stepping. I think i pushed her too much into a hurry and she misunderstood. We trotted the outside poles, transitioned to walk, walked in the inner doughnut, before trotting out and cantering the outside edge with the right lead. After a full circle of the arena I transitioned to a walk and then stopped.
